The Next 7 Words of Christ
On Good Friday we will hear the last 7 words of Christ.  These are the words spoken by Jesus on the cross.  It is a powerful reflection on Jesus' crucifixion and a moving reminder of God's love.  This year, beginning Easter with Easter worship, we will begin a 7 week sermon series on "The Next 7 Words of Christ."  This will be a reflection on seven things that Jesus said after his resurrection.  It will be an opportunity to consider the blessing of our life in Christ and our call to faithful discipleship.  Mark your calendars, invite a friend, and join us on this journey

Spring Cleaning
As you are getting ready for your spring cleaning keep this in mind... On Saturday April 8th there will be a truck at WUMC to collect all your knick- knacks and stuff that you no longer need.  Any item especially soft items like clothing, bedding and curtains and stuffed animals as well as hard items like dishes, pans and home décor are appreciated. These items will be donated to Savers who will in turn pay the WUMC Youth Mission trips per pound for the items donated. Truck will be available to receive between 9am & 3pm.

July 4th
The Wilmington Appeals Board has approved again the Annual Wilmington July 4th celebration to be held on Wilmington Common. Events will be Thursday June 29th – July 2nd with Fireworks on July 1st and rain date July 3rd. The WUMC Youth will again host the Pizza Booth. As summer approaches please plan to be part of this wonderful tradition that serves so many in our community.

Join us for Sunday School
This year's theme is "Where we encounter God and others".
Sunday School classes are held during the 9:00 am services for Pre-K through 5th grade students. 6th and 7th graders spend the first part of class in worship together and then meet in room 1-3. Younger children start out at the service sitting with their family and then are dismissed from Children's Moment to their Sunday School classes. Visit our Sunday School page for details and to register.

Can You Help?
We need to replace the altar cloths (paraments) that are placed at the front of the church each week on the altar, pulpit and in the Bible. There are four sets of paraments: white, green, red and purple. The white set is used the weeks we have communion, during funerals and other special occasions. The green set is used during the church period called “Ordinary Time”, and is most of the year. The purple set is used during Advent and the red set at Pentecost. The white and green sets have multiple stains and age spots that dry cleaning does not re-move. Each set of paraments costs $1500. We also need a new way to store these paraments, so they can be hung to avoid the creases that come from the folding and storage in a bureau. We plan to build a closet where these paraments can be hung and kept free from creases and dust.

Donations should be payable to Wilmington United Methodist Church and marked “ALTAR FUND”. Please consider contributing. If you would like to make a donation in honor or in memory of a loved one, please include a note with your contribution.
Our Vision:"The mission of the Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ, and we are called as a church community to enable one another to deepen our relationship with Jesus Christ."
