Typical worship services at Wilmington United Methodist Church may include a greeting and opening prayer, time for people to greet each other, scripture readings, silent prayer and meditation, an offering, a children's message, the sermon, special music, and hymns, and a closing prayer.
Our morning service is a blend of time-honored hymns and contemporary worship songs. We have special music from our adult choir, children's choir, or individuals. We seek to have Christ-centered services focused on prayer and Bible-based messages.
Communion may also be served. All are invited to celebrate communion, but you can choose whether or not you wish to participate.
We will print words and responses in the bulletins to help those who are unfamiliar with United Methodist worship.
Visit our Contact page for driving directions and street maps to the church.
If you would like more information about the worship service please contact us via our secure Online Form or call the church office at 978.658.4519.
We utilize the curriculum from Deep Blue. Children gather for the Bible story and then break into age-level small groups to dig deeper and apply the story to their everyday lives.
Once every month we hold Service Sunday - one Sunday a month dedicated in engaging in service to our community. These vary from month to month but have included:
- - Smashing Pumpkins to learn about caring for our Earth through composting
- - Cooking meals and treats for St Paul's Soup Kitchen in Lowell
- - Taking a field trip to Market Basket to shop for the Wilmington Food Pantry
- - Caroling to our homebound members
Diving Deeper!
In this week's monthly Service Sunday, as we continue to learn about God's works of creation, we will be discussing all the ways we serve others by caring for our environment!

Family Discussion:
This week, we are learning about God's creation of living things. Let's think of some animals!
- What are two animals, and what are some ways that they are different?
(Ex.: Elephant and Goldfish - one is great big, the other small. One walks, one swims. Etc...)
Wow, there are so many animals, and they are all so different! God must be super creative. Do you know what is even more amazing, though? Each of these animals has a special place where they live and thrive. It's a delicate system where animals and plants all depend on one another for food and shelter. And we humans depend on them too, so when we take care of the environment around us, we are also taking care of one another!
- What are some ways that we depend on our environment (the rest of God's creation)?
- What are some ways that we might mess up the delicate system of God's creation if we aren't careful?
